The Peanut Gallary

Whenever I look at this picture (from a small wood shop in Panjachel) I can’t help but think of laughing Gods, mocking us mortals below them with their snide grins and animal/human-like features. But the irony, of course, is that they are the ones eternally stuck to the walls while we move about freely. Sometimes I feel like more then I am, only to realize I’m really just standing (or hanging) in one place. So I have to remember that I’m just a mortal, free to make my choices and roam around freely. 🙂
And on a side note, the colors and smell of all the wood were wonderful, and the man’s entire shop was filled to the ceilings with similarly carved masks and statues.
